Historic boat to be restored in Spotswood

A historic World War II Royal Australian Air Force search and rescue boat will be restored in Spotswood.

The 48 foot boat was transported on Wednesday, February 2 via the Princes Highway from Lakes Entrance, and arrived in Spotswood on Thursday, February 3.

Once restored, it will be relocated to the Royal Australian Air Force Museum in Point Cook.

The ex search and rescue boat was originally built in 1941.

It was in service during World War II in Gippsland Lakes, East Sale and Point Cook with Royal Australian Air Force Marine Sections.
