Wyndham council is reminding the community that its libraries have a range of free of resources and activities available for students of all ages.
With the 2022 school year appraoching, Wyndham’s learning city portfolio holder, councillor Jasmine Hill, said the libraries also offered dedicated study spaces.
“Students are encouraged to come and study in a quiet environment with like-minded students,” Cr Hill said.
“For our younger residents starting their learning journey, there is a wide range of resources available to support early literacy and numeracy, as well as a wide range of interesting and entertaining books to engage young readers.”
Cr Hill said that the libraries also have books for parents and teachers to support children with special needs, including resources for dyslexia, autism and learning disabilities.
As well, Wyndham libraries offer the Read With Me after-school program that helps children practise their reading with an education librarian.
The Homework Help initiative can assist with school projects and the Education eLibrary provides free access to Britannica Library, Literacy Planet and educational games.
For students looking for one-on-one support from tertiary-qualified subject specialists, the library provides free access to Studiosity – an online tutoring service.
Simply sign in with your library barcode and pin to get 24/7 online help with English, maths, science and a range of other subjects.
Cr Hill said that the Hoppers Crossing library was now open until 10pm every Thursday.
“Whether you need a break from study or you want to learn and develop mindfulness and wellbeing skills come and try out the activities,” Cr Hill said.
