Australian-Asian community celebrating Australia Day

The Asian Business Association of Wyndham (ABAW) will present a 2022 Australia Day Celebration, in partnership with the National Australia Day Council, in Box Hill.

Association president Larry Zhao said the event would be a “great opportunity for our local Asian community to join in, be proud of Australia’s achievements and acknowledge our countries united ability to thrive and prosper”.

The event will recognise an ABAW-selected 2022 Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Annual Volunteer and Community Event of the Year.

A Sports Award, Community Service Award, Certificate of Achievement and Certificate of Appreciation will also be awarded.

Guests from the state government, community leaders and mayors and councillors from the municipalities of Wyndham, Whitehorse and Melbourne will attend the ceremony and assist with the presentation of the awards.

Representatives from the South East Melbourne Phoenix will present the sports award.

ABAW is a non-for-profit organisation registered in Victoria.

It aims to serve residents and enterprises within Wyndham and beyond and provide its members the opportunity to network and share resources to build a culturally diverse and cohesive community and a prosperous business environment.

Due to COVID regulations, the Australia Day event is only open to double-vaccinated ticket holders, who will need to prove their vaccination status at the entry to the event.

The event will be held Wednesday, January 26 from 1–5pm at 818 Whitehorse Road, Box Hill.

For complimentary limited ticket reservations contact Larry Zhao on 0420 580 908.
