Two men arrested in allegedly stolen car

Police have charged two men after arresting them in an allegedly-stolen vehicle in Werribee South this morning.

Detectives from Geelong first observed the allegedly stolen blue Nissan Qashqai travelling north at excessive speed on the Princes Freeway in Norlane, shortly after 1am.

Police monitored the vehicle, with assistance from the Air Wing, before detectives from the Wyndham Crime Investigation Unit deployed a tyre-deflation device near Duncans Road in Werribee South.

The vehicle came to a stop shortly afterwards and the two occupants were arrested without incident.

A 19-year-old Corio man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, theft and possessing a drug of dependence in relation this incident, along with 15 charges relating to property offences in the Lara and Corio areas.

He has been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.

A 20-year-old Reservoir man has been charged with theft of motor vehicle and driving offences.

He has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on June 15.

The Nissan Qashqai was allegedly stolen from an address in Mouth Martha yesterday.

The vehicle was also earlier seen travelling in convoy with an allegedly stolen blue Nissan Pathfinder, driven by an unknown man in East Geelong, before 1am.

The Nissan is yet to be located and investigators are appealing for assistance to help locate it.
