Wyndham council’s Youth Services team hosted a sports event on Friday, January 14 at Arndell Park.
The Youth Cup was a culmination of a six-week program that involved young people aged between 12 and 25 years old, from different cultural backgrounds, taking part in a sports and fitness Youth Empowerment Project.
Representatives from the Western United Football Club, the Huddle, Football Empowerment, Headspace, Centre of Multicultural Youth and Activate Youth worked with young people in the program.
The Department of Family Fairness and Housing funded the Youth Empowerment Project and Youth Cup event.
A Wyndham council spokesperson said 15 teams participated in the Cup and 14 games of soccer were played, in total.
“There were lots of smiling faces, laughter and enjoyment,” the spokesperson said.
“There were a range of food vans and activities on offer on the day which were very popular.”

“The empowerment course helped me to think about my mental health and ways to deal with problems.”
