The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) will return to Wyndham in 2022, after a sell-out show last summer.

Residents will be able to attend a summer symphony under the skies on Friday, January 28 when the MSO returns to Wyndham Park.

Following the sell-out concert in January this year, the MSO will again perform excerpts and short works from popular classical pieces and contemporary classics.

Wyndham mayor Peter Maynard said the event would allow residents to come together after a challenging year, to share in the delight of a unique performance while enjoying a picnic or takeaway food from one of Werribee’s many restaurants or cafes.

“We’re thrilled to bring this performance back to Wyndham Park in the heart of Werribee city centre,” Cr Maynard said.

“It’s going to be magical – some of the country’s most talented musicians, family, friends and a picnic under the stars in the beautiful surrounds of Wyndham Park.”

MSO conductor Benjamin Northey said residents of all ages would enjoy the show.

“Whether you’re a lover of orchestras or brand new to classical music, this concert will be a fun and engaging way to experience the magic of the MSO live in concert,” he said.

The MSO performance is part of a Wyndham council music and entertainment extravaganza, that will include six free events over two days.

To start the festival, there will be a children’s show, Jams for Juniors, hosted by the MSO at the Wyndham Cultural Centre prior to the main orchestral performance.
