As the weather warms up, free family events are coming to Tarneit for residents of all ages to enjoy.
The Meet me in Tarneit program will feature movie and music nights and a monthly Makers and Growers market across the next six months.
Wyndham council is delivering the program in partnership with the state government and the Tarneit Suburban Revitalisation Board.
Wyndham mayor Peter Maynard said the events would bring the community together and support local businesses.
“From movie nights to live music in the park and monthly markets, I encourage residents to come down with your family and enjoy what is on offer locally in Tarneit,” Cr Maynard said.
The first Makers and Growers market will be held on January 29 and will feature arts, crafts, food and produce.
The markets will be held once a month, rotating amongst the three community centres in Tarneit.
Stallholder applications are now open for the January market, with the first round of applications closing Sunday, December 19.
“This is a great opportunity for local creative businesses to sell their products in the local community,” Cr Maynard said.
“There are no stallholder fees and marquees will be supplied, so if you’re a local maker or grower I encourage you to take advantage of this great opportunity.”
A Christmas Movie Night will also be held 5pm on Saturday, December 18 when Elf will be screened at Baden Powell Reserve.
Family-friendly roving entertainment will be part of the night.
All the Meet me in Tarneit events are free but bookings are essential.
