Say hello to art project

Tarneit is set to become a more creative place under a new project designed to boost social connections in the area.

Tarneit MP Sarah Connolly has announced the state government will invest $100,000 into an arts project for the electorate, under the Suburban Revitalisation program.

Supported by Tarneit’s Suburban Revitalisation Board, work has commenced on the project to support local artists and engage families residing in Tarneit.

The project will based on the successful pilot program Hello Togetherness, which recruited families and diverse households to be supported to participate and create artworks, activities and public art that are presented throughout their neighbourhoods.

“I’m thrilled to chair the Tarneit Revitalisation Board, which brings together representatives from the Victorian and Wyndham governments, services providers, businesses and community groups to identify local priorities and deliver exciting projects in Tarneit,” Ms Connolly said.

The art project follows a $2.2 million investment in Tarneit from the state government, which included $465,000 to upgrade the network of parks in Tarneit and $330,000 for enhancements to Sunset Views Boulevard.

The Suburban Revitalisation Program works with regional and local communities to plan and deliver infrastructure, community development and engagement initiatives.

These projects focus on boosting social and economic outcomes locally, as businesses and communities recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
