A floral art installation at the Wedge Street Piazza in Werribee held on the weekend celebrated the increasing freedoms people are experiencing as pandemic restrictions lift across Victoria.
The One Day Bouquet was also held as a gift to the community for the things that they did and did not do, to get through the COVID-19 lockdown.
The experience was a collaboration between Wyndham’s council’s Arts & Culture team and XXFloss.
The art installation allowed more than 100 passers-by to encounter a surprise visual delight of fresh flowers, colour and friendliness as they walked past the Piazza.
Community members could stop, pick out their flowers and have them arranged into a bouquet with a gift card attached, on Saturday.
The installation ran as a surprise pop-up from 9am, until all the flowers were given out to community members by midday.
Comments received about the One Day Bouquet from locals included:
“Sometimes flowers are for sad times, sometimes for happy, but knowing you can make someone’s day with them is great.”
“Let’s get some flowers for mum. Mum will love them.”
“Such a great initiative.”
“This is so special.”
