Halloween house stars in charity campaign

The famous Manor Lakes Halloween house is returning this year to raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation (SCF).

For the past five years, husband and wife Andrew Price and Maria Lodola-Price have decked out their Dalrymple Boulevard home in spectacular and spooky style to raise funds for the SCF.

In 2019, they hosted an event with food trucks and a local dance school performed a flash mob to Thriller by Michael Jackson.

Ms Lodola-Price said that after COVID forced them to change their plans in 2020, they still managed to raise more than $5000 for the SCF by inviting residents to participate in a host of online Halloween-themed activities.

The photo competitions for best-decorated local house, and best-costumed family and pet, are running again this year, along with raffles and a colouring contest.

The Manor Lakes Estate will donate money to the SCF for each entry that members of the public submit to the competitions.

Ms Lodola-Price said they have also launched an augmented-reality treasure hunt similar to Pokemon GO.

Participants can download the ARLOOPA app to their phones in order to find Halloween characters in different locations across Manor Lakes.

Anyone who finds all 10 characters and snaps photos with them can enter a prize draw.

“I just look forward to seeing how our community can band together in a very difficult, divisive time for something fun and that’s also for the greater good,” Ms Lodola-Price said.

“I’d also like to give a big shout-out to all the local businesses who generously donated prizes.”
