Developer Country Land Australia is planning to establish a $120 million health and education precinct in Tarneit.
The company, led by former Wyndham councillor Intaj Khan, has purchased a 13.7 acre parcel of land at 645 Derrimut Road, where it hopes to build the precinct.
Country Land Australia paid $14 million for the site, which is approved for use as a mixed land zone, from Gold Bank Real Estate.
In a statement, Country Land Australia said educational institutes, alongside public and private health bodies, were welcome to “express their interest in this great opportunity in Melbourne’s west”.
Country Land Australia will offer two options to potential investors, and healthcare and education providers, who want to set up at the Tarneit site: to purchase land and build their own facilities, or for Country Land Australia to construct the buildings on their behalf.
Country Land Australia is also planning to approach the state and federal government about “future opportunities” for TAFE and universities to be based at the Tarneit site.
The statement said Country Land Australia “believes that this new development will increase and enhance development in Melbourne’s western suburbs and result in increased employment opportunities for local residents”.
Country Land Australia is hoping to start construction of the health and education precinct in 2025.
