The Community Connections and Care service has been launched by Wyndham council to help residents in need of assistance on matters ranging from mental health to food relief.

The service is free and confidential for people needing information, advice and support about access to services.

Wyndham mayor Cr Adele Hegedich said the Community Connector team could “support, inform and connect” residents, as well as tailor specific information to meet their individual needs and link them to a range of programs.

“Wyndham’s Community Connector team can help residents in so many ways, over the phone, by email, in person (with) home visits in a COVID-safe way of course, to provide care and referral services to link our residents with the services they need,” Cr Hegedich said.

“The range of services the Community Connector team provide are varied and depend on the needs of the person they are assisting.

“It can range from food relief and material aid to emotional and social support, counselling, linking with community groups and activities to information and assistance accessing services such as My Aged Care and NDIS.”

The Community Connections and Care service is already providing support to 25 residents per week.
