The state government has invited residents to provide ideas for the development of a new 340-hectare park in Wyndham Vale.
The park, which has been dubbed the Werribee Township Regional Park, will be created near the northern boundary of Presidents Park, under the $154 million Suburban Parks Program.
As part of the program, Parks Victoria will also update plans for the existing Werribee River Regional Park, which follows the western bank of the river from the Princes Freeway through to the river mouth into Port Philip Bay.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Lily D’Ambrosio, said development of the parks was an “important milestone” for people in the west.
“I urge everyone who is looking forward to these parks to have their say on what they will look like,” Ms D’Ambroosio said.
“These parks will make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of people in these communities – providing green open space for people to stretch the legs, clear the head and catch up with friends.”
The release of the final park plans will occur in July to September next year.
Work is scheduled to commence on the new park in late 2022, subject to land acquisition.
