Point Cook exposure sites

Seven Point Cook locations have been named as COVID exposure sites.

The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has listed these spots as tier one exposure sites, meaning anyone who was present at the dates and times specified must get tested immediately and quarantine for 14 days from the exposure date.

The sites are:

-Point Cook Quality Meats (Halal) & Grocery Supermarket, Stockland Shopping Centre, 5 Main Street and Murnong Street, has been added as a tier one exposure site on May 26, from 3.30 – 5.30pm.

-Marketplace Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Market, Stockland Shopping Centre, 5 Main Street and Murnong Street, has been added as a tier one exposure site on May 26 from 3.30-5.30pm.

-Coles at Stockland Point Cook Shopping Centre, 5 Main Street and Murnong Street, on May 26 from 3.30-5.30pm.

-Target at Stockland Point Cook Shopping Centre, Murnong Street, on May 26 from 3.30-5.30pm.

-Aldi at Sanctuary Lakes Shopping Centre, 300 Point Cook Road, on May 26 from 5.10-6.30pm.

The Sanctuary Lakes Shopping Centre has also been listed as a tier two site from 5.10-6.30pm on May 26, meaning anyone who was there at this time has to get tested urgently and isolate until they have a negative result.

The Stockland Point Cook Shopping Centre has also been listed as a tier two exposure site, on May 26 from 3.30-5.30pm.

As well, Liberty Oil at 290 Leakes Road in Truganina has been listed as a tier two exposure site, between 7.05-7.40pm on May 23.

Coles has posted on its website, saying that frequent cleaning and sanitisation had “already occurred in the time since the customer was last on site” at the Point Cook store.

“The store is currently closed while an additional deep clean is completed and it will re-open as soon as possible,” the website said.

Aldi also posted on its website, saying: “We have been notified that a customer at our ALDI Sanctuary Lakes (VIC) store has tested positive for COVID-19.

“While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, we have taken extra precautionary measures including an additional deep clean. Customers should be assured that they can continue to shop safely at our Sanctuary Lakes stores.”

Meanwhile a Maidstone aged care facility is in lockdown after a worker from Altona tested positive to COVID-19.

Arcare chief executive Colin Singh said the employee last worked at the facility on Thursday, had worn a mask and displayed no symptoms.

“I can confirm the staff member had the first dose of the COVID vaccine and a significant number of our residents at Arcare Maidstone have also had their first dose of the COVID vaccine,” Mr Singh said.

“Arcare Maidstone is now in lockdown.

“This means that clients need to self-isolate in their suites and team members are now wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE).

“We have sufficient PPE and all other supplies necessary to continue to provide support and services to our clients and team safely.

“I want to assure you that whilst we hoped that this would not happen again we are well prepared and our infection control practices put us in a good place to manage this outbreak effectively.”

On Monday, all residents and staff at the centre are to be offered the Pfizer vaccine.

The 406 and 412 bus routes have also been listed as tier one exposure sites for several dates and times.
