Presents for new mums

Pacific Werribee has partnered with the Werribee Mercy Hospital to distribute gift packs to new mums, to help celebrate Mother’s Day.

Forty hampers were delivered to new mothers at the paediatrics ward and the Special Care Nursery unit today, in the lead-up to Mother’s Day. The packs included gifts for both mums and babies.

Pacific Werribee centre manager Patricia Gardiner acknowledged the importance of celebrating milestone events with the local community.

“It is important to stop and celebrate the positive things in our community. The birth of a child is beautiful and an extremely special time for new mothers, parents, and their families,” she said.

“The team at Pacific Werribee were honoured to have provided an added treat to new mums, and to continue to work with Werribee Mercy Hospital.

“We wish all mums a happy Mother’s Day, for this Sunday.”

Werribee Hospital Foundation chief executive Leanne Down expressed her appreciation on behalf of the patients.

“With nine birthing suites, 32 post-natal rooms and 16 cots in the Special Care Nursery, the hospital is always a flurry of activity,” Ms Down said.

“Werribee Hospital Foundation, together with Werribee Mercy Hospital are extremely grateful for the gift hampers provided to the mothers in the hospital’s care this Mother’s Day, what a special gift.

“I’d like to thank Pacific Werribee for their support and generosity.”

Postnatal nurse unit manager said the Pacific Werribee gesture was “a wonderful offer”.

Special Care Nursery nurse unit manager Jennifer Anning said the hampers were a lovely boost for the mothers who were not yet able to take their babies home from the hospital.

“It’s difficult for mums to not have their babies home with them on any day, but on days like Mother’s Day, it is particularly hard. I’m sure these hampers will help brighten their day,” she said.

Mercy Health said it was grateful to Pacific Werribee, Werribee Hospital Foundation and Mercy Health Foundation for their ongoing support.
