Point Cook’s young people are being provided with more youth services in their own neighbourhood.
Wyndham council has allocated $150,000 to boost its youth services in Point Cook, where 19 per cent of the city’s young people live.
A recent council survey found that only 5 per cent of young people living in Point Cook used the council’s youth services.
The survey identified there were insufficient services in their area and a lack of public transport to help youth access programs in other suburbs.
The new youth services programs will run mainly from the Point Cook Community Learning Centre at Point Cook Town Centre.
The services will include an after-school drop-in centre where young people can chat to a youth worker, an arts program, and Bump Baby And Beyond – a support group for young pregnant women and mothers.
