A historic bluestone property in Little River has sold for a record amount.
Located on Old Geelong Road, “Tarcombe” was built in the 1860s, and sold for $2.57 million to a local buyer.
The Little River suburb median sale price is $1 million.
According to sellers Richardson Real Estate, the 10.29 hectare property has “very important” local history.
The Gleeson family, well known to the area, were in possession of the property for a long time, the significance of this reflected by the naming of Gleesons Road at the back of the land, according to Richardson Real Estate.
The property was sold on behalf of the widow of Richmond premiership player Paddy Guinane, who died in 2019 at 80-years-old.
Mr Guinane was the vice-captain of Richmond’s 1967 premiership team, and was the club’s oldest living premiership player.
Richardson Real Estate agent Matt Poustie said the campaign to sell the property was “very successful”, and attracted potential buyers from across Melbourne, Geelong and interstate.
Over 60 individuals inspected the property during the campaign.
“The interest in the property showed the popularity of the rural area,” Mr Poustie said.
“It also shows the growth in the [Little River] area.”
Mr Poustie said the bluestone element and good soil quality of the property were additional attractions for potential buyers.
