The Manor Lakes Football Club (MLFC) women’s team will “look the part” thanks to recent funding.
The growing club will use funding from AVID Property Group’s 2021 Community Sponsorship and Grants Program, to purchase new water bottles and jumpers for the under 12, under 14 and senior women’s football teams.
MLFC president Shane White said the club often relies on local support to provide equipment and team gear.
“There’s been some financial strain because there was no football season in 2020 or income to support the influx of members ready to get back to training and competitions,” Mr White said.
“The sponsorship from AVID relieves the pressure and stress from our committee and coaches, who are all volunteers and just want to see families have fun and a healthy outlet.
“Nothing makes us prouder than seeing new faces and teams being able to put on their new jumpers for the very first time and seeing kids’ face’s light up.
“Being able to supply new water bottles and jumpers is a blessing to our teams because it helps
create happy and energetic people at the club who are inspired to be part of the team, whether it be through playing, coaching, medical training or helping out with functions and activities.”
AVID Victoria general manager Peter Vlitas said sponsorships play an important role in the community.
“Our Activate grants are designed to help support grassroots initiatives within the community that can benefit from funding because they positively shape communities − we want to be able to give back and contribute to the wider community,” Mr Vlitas said.
The MLFC players said they are looking forward to wearing their new jumpers with pride.
