If you are keen to snap up some hidden treasure for a bargain price, head along to Werribee South this weekend

The Country Women’s Association (CWA) Werribee South Branch and Friends will host a garage sale on Saturday, with all items priced at just $2.

CWA branch president Julia Toffolon said the funds raised through the garage sale would go to community projects, including assistance for local families.

Mrs Toffolon said the items for sale on the day would include clothing, craft items, pots and pans, crystals, ornaments, folding chairs, books, jars, bottles, pantry items, kitchen items, soft toys and at least one pusher.

“I’m looking forward to the socialising with the community, having a bit of a laugh, a bit of camaraderie and filling our coffers,” she said.

The Werribee South CWA Branch began in late 2019, with members including Pam Pegoraro and Angela Callea as secretaries and Ros Baulch as treasurer.

Mrs Toffolon said most of the fundraising activities organised by the CWA branch were cancelled last year due to the pandemic.

However, this did not stop its members from making about 200 pairs of mittens for koalas injured in the bushfires.

Mrs Toffolon said the CWA branch held regular meetings and craft sessions, and also has a “friends” group made up of women who cannot attend every event but help out when they can.

She said the CWA philosophy was about women helping other women and children.

The garage sale will be held on Saturday, March 20 from 9am-4pm at 19 Chandler Street, Werribee South.
