Photographer Imran Abul Kashem loves sharing his knowledge with other people.
The Hoppers Crossing resident is set to host a series of photo tours exploring Wyndham’s hidden gems and historic locations from this week.
The free tours have been funded and organised by Wyndham council, as part of efforts to activate the municipality after last year’s pandemic lockdowns.
Kashem said that if he is unable to host the tours due to the latest lockdown, he hopes to reschedule them for April.
“Photo tours are a meaningful way to connect with similar-minded people and also to know the history and beautiful places around where we live,” he said.
The first tour, which will take place this Saturday from 9am-1pm, will visit Wyndham Park, Bungie’s Hole, Doolan Street and Werribee River Park.
Special guest Werribee Riverkeeper John Forrester will join the tour to talk about the heritage and natural conditions of the area.
In past decades, Bungie’s Hole was a popular spot where swimming carnivals were held for Werribee residents.
“I know it’s a hidden gem in Werribee,” Kashem said.
On Saturday, March 20 , from 5-6.30pm, he will host a photo tour at Baden Powell Reserve.
The following Saturday, from 10am-2pm, he will host a tour in Little River.
“Little River is a place that’s still got a country vibe, the beautiful You Yangs and it’s not far from where we live,” Kashem said.
The tours are open to residents aged 16 years and older. All camera types are welcome and no prior photographic experience is required.
Each tour is limited to 10 people, and some tours will require participants to have a car.
