Thomas Carr College is delighted to announce its line-up of newly elected captains for next year which, for the first time in the school’s history, is an all-female team.
Congratulations are offered to the 2021 college captains Temwani Mazaba and Thea Ty, along with 2021 vice captains Jamie Farrales and Mia Bellet.
Further congratulations go to new middle school captains Sarah Ajang and Asheriya Charan.
Temwani Mazaba, is a South African-born student who has also lived in Scotland.
“I aim to study law and/or psychology at university to fulfil my passion for helping others,” Temwani says. “I believe it’s important to work hard and treat others with respect. I encourage all to be the best version of themselves.”
Thea Ty, was born in Singapore, migrating to Australia with her family at age two.
“I have always wanted to encourage others to take a step out of their comfort zone, as well as support students by helping them build their confidence,” says Thea.
Thomas Carr College believe students need to be encouraged to not only achieve their best, but to extend themselves beyond the norm and to have the courage to ‘reach for the stars’, along with serving others and contributing to the wider community.
Jamie Farrales, has a Filipino background and was born in New Zealand.
“My vision is to be able to inspire others, whilst representing both students and the college,” Jamie says. “I have been in various leadership roles over the years and I am looking forward to what challenges and experiences 2021 can bring.”
Mia Bellet has also held various leadership roles, particularly enjoying her role as social justice captain. She states: “I will encourage students to interact with me to express their opinions and feel comfortable to do so.”
Sarah Ajang says; “I am honoured to have landed this role and am looking forward to getting to know my peers,” while Asheriya Charan adds, “I want to help students shine as bright as they can and create new and innovative ideas for the College.”
Thomas Carr College is proud to nurture and support future leaders, where young men and women can lead and inspire others, as well as be confident and independent in a global world.
Craig Holmes, college principal, says: “We are very proud to attract this calibre of students aspiring to leadership. I look forward to working with these college leaders as we hope for a promising academic year in 2021.”
