Wyndham has led the metropolitan Melbourne area for new real estate listings, within a four week period.
More than 300 Wyndham residential properties were listed for sale in the four weeks to October 18, according to CoreLogic head of residential research Australia, Eliza Owen.
According to Ms Owen, Melbourne City placed next with 273 listings and the Whittlesea-Wallan region was third with 256 listings.
Across Melbourne, there were 6974 new residences listed for sale during the four weeks, compared to 1606 properties in the previous four weeks (to September 20).
Ms Owen’s findings were recently published on the property data firm’s website.
Since October 19, inspections of residential property for sale or lease in metropolitan Melbourne have been permitted under COVID-19 restrictions with one real estate agent and one prospective buyer/tenant and their partner or dependent.
Each private inspection must be for a maximum of 15 minutes. The 25-kilometre travel rule does not apply for private inspections, though Melburnians cannot travel to regional Victoria to attend an inspection.
Outdoor auctions for commercial and residential property are also permitted in metro Melbourne, with up to 10 members of the public in attendance plus the minimum number of people required to conduct the auction.
The Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) chief executive Gil King said: “This is great news for Victorians and should be seen as a positive and encouraging step towards a return to ‘normal’.”
REIV president Leah Calnan said the industry “can be trusted to conduct inspections and auctions in a safe and responsible manner”.
“We have done so previously, and will continue to do so for the benefit of all Victorians,” she said.
