Photos showcase Wyndham’s beauty

More than 150 people have entered the inaugural Nature in Wyndham photo competition, held by the Werribee River Association.

The association – also known as WRA – received a total of 845 photos from residents.

This gave the judges, Abul Kashem from Westend Photography and David Mullins from Relativity 3D, a mammoth task in selecting the five winning images in categories designed to showcase the local environment.

The winners included Ricki Booth from Wyndham Vale, for a drone shot of the K Road cliffs, and Shian Chao Tay from Werribee South, for a photo of the Werribee River entrance.

Wyndham Vale resident Ishan Ami was named another winner, for a black and white photo showing a Werribee South location.

Lyn Hoare from Wyndham Harbour also won for her photo of a pelican, and Werribee’s Trudy Price, for her photo of the white plumed honeyeater.

Each of the winners will receive a prize of $200, supported by a neighbourhood grant from Wyndham council.

Competition organiser and WRA acting chairperson, Lisa Field, said: “The competition was a great success in terms of the number and quality of the photos.”

Pacific Werribee will feature a selection of the photos on their windows near Myer later this month, and YPA Wyndham Real Estate will make a promotional video featuring some of the images.

Ms Field said the WRA was also hoping to create a calendar using some of the pictures.

“We also invite individuals and families to join the association, and for more businesses to support the work we do,” she said.
