Thieves have stolen a tricycle, belonging to a young man with Down Syndrome, from a central Werribee property.
The godmother of the man, who is aged in his mid-twenties, said the tricycle was stolen from her garage on Saturday night or Sunday morning.
The godmother, who asked not to be named, said the three-wheeled bicycle was coloured white, with a black basket on the back, orange reflectors around the wheels and mudguards.
The godmother said that her godson, who lives nearby, enjoyed riding the tricycle in her driveway when he visited.
She said the tricycle had been given to her godson as a 21st-birthday present.
“I was disappointed that my garage was broken into, but I was more disappointed they stole this ‘trike’ from my godson,” she said.
“My godson liked to give his nephew rides on the back of the bike.
“I would like to say, to the person who took it: Would you please have the decency to return this, as it’s his (her godson’s) only comfort during COVID.”
The godmother said that she was also hoping for anyone with information about the theft, or who was contacted by someone looking to sell the tricycle, to contact Werribee Police on 9742 9444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
