Hoppers Crossing granddad wins $1 million Lotto prize

A Hoppers Crossing grandfather says that he can’t wait to use his $1 million Lotto win to travel and meet his new grandson, once pandemic restrictions are lifted.

The man was one of two national division one winners in the Monday and Wednesday Lotto draw 4015, which was drawn yesterday.

The granddad said that he was oblivious to his win, and hard at work, when he discovered his new millionaire status this morning.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked 9-game entry at Target Lotto, Old Geelong Road, Hoppers Crossing.

When an official from The Lott contacted the Hoppers Crossing man about his windfall this morning, the grandfather said: “That’s great! Fantastic! I’ve been waiting all my life for good news like this.

“I’ve been marking my ticket for years using birthdates and this and that.

“Until now, they’ve brought no luck at all, I can tell you that.

“I can’t believe it. I’m going to need to have a drink of water or splash water on my face to make sure I’m not still sleeping.”

The man said he couldn’t wait to mark his good fortune by getting his whole family together sometime soon, once pandemic restrictions would allow him to.

“We’ll celebrate at another time. I’ll use this prize to help my family. They’re very, very important to me,” he said.

“When we can, I can’t wait to travel and meet my new grandson. I haven’t met him yet.”

Target Lotto owner Carlo Addamo said the $1million prize, won by the grandfather, was his outlet’s third major win during the past five weeks.

“I can’t believe it. Our luck continues, not just over the last few weeks but for so many years,” he said.

“I have owned the store for 18 years and we’ve sold 38 division one prizes. We have been fortunate to have been able to sell so many major prize-winning tickets.

“It’s been a very challenging year for everyone and when a customer wins it makes me so happy knowing that we could be the ones contributing in a very positive way and making a positive difference.”

The winning numbers in the Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4015 were 9, 13, 17, 7, 6 and 10, while the supplementary numbers were 19 and 35.
