A team member from the Woolworths store at Tarneit Gardens has tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the supermarket chain announced today.
The team member last worked at Woolworths Tarneit Gardens on August 18.
A statement from Woolworths said: “We’re making contact with our team members and providing our full support to those required to self-isolate in line with advice from the health authorities.
“As a food retailer, we already have very high standards of cleaning and hygiene in place. As an extra precautionary measure we have undertaken an additional deep clean of the store.
“While the risk of transmission to customers and team members is low, the safety and wellbeing of the local community is our priority. Customers and team members should be assured they can continue to safely shop and work at our Tarneit Gardens store.
“Any customers who shopped in our Tarneit Gardens store on the 17th or 18th August and feel unwell in the next two weeks should make contact with the health authorities.”
Yesterday, Coles announced that an employee from its Davis Rd, Tarneit store had also tested positive for the virus.
“The team member has not been into the store since August 6, as they were identified as a close contact to a COVID-19 case outside of work,” a statement from Coles said.
“Contact tracing did not identify any other team members as a close contact.
“Coles will continue to work with the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services to finalise contact tracing.
“Coles’ standard cleaning procedures comply with the Federal Government’s COVID-19 Hygiene Practices For Supermarkets and frequent sanitisation has occurred in the time since the team member was last on site.
“Consistent with prior practice developed with the Victorian Department of Health, the store can continue to trade and the risk of transmission for customers and team members is very low.”
