As of today, Wyndham residents have been diagnosed with 231 active cases of the coronavirus (compared to 209 active cases yesterday).
This is the second-highest amount of active coronavirus cases among the state’s municipalities – only Hume, in the north-west suburbs, has more. Hume residents have been diagnosed with 246 active cases of the virus, as of today.
Victoria has recorded 270 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 4224 across Victoria.
Twenty-eight of the new cases are linked to outbreaks and 242 are under investigation.
Two new deaths have been reported since yesterday. A woman in her eighties and a man in his eighties have both died in hospital. To date, 26 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.
Presently, 85 Victorians with the virus are in hospital, including 26 people in intensive care.
Thirteen COVID-19 cases have been linked to Glendale Aged Care in Werribee.
A resident of the home – great-grandfather Alf Jordan, aged 90 – died in hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19 on Friday.
In addition, several people who attended an illegal house party in Point Cook on the weekend have been fined.
A video posted on social media platform Snapchat, obtained by Channel Nine shows a group of people partying at an apartment on Saturday night.
Victoria Police said that 11 partygoers have been fined for gathering at the short-term rental apartment.
Separately, Wyndham council has confirmed that two positive cases of COVID-19 were present at a Point Cook kindergarten last month.
Mayor Josh Gilligan said: “Wyndham City has received notification from the Department of Health and Human Services of two positive COVID-19 cases at Featherbrook Kindergarten.
“There is no reason for any members of the community to be alarmed.
“We have been reassured by DHHS that the positive case was last onsite on 25 June, and all contact tracing has since been completed.”
“The kindergarten has since reopened.
“Wyndham City takes seriously our commitment to the health, wellbeing and safety of our staff, children and their families.
“We have Covid-safe protocols in place to limit the spread of the virus in all our kindergartens.”
“We will continue to do all we can to limit the spread and impacts of COVID-19 in all our services. In the meantime, we encourage our community to continue to wash your hands regularly, maintain at least 1.5 metres between you and others at all times, and to strictly follow government regulations and guidelines
