Some stores and outlets at Pacific Werribee have been temporarily closed while inspections and works take place.

Centre manager Patricia Gardiner said: “We have been working with independent expert engineering consultants to undertake inspections and works at the centre, as part of our ongoing responsible management practices.

“Following advice from these expert consultants, as a precautionary measure, we are in the process of implementing temporary exclusion zones and props in some areas of our centre where potential issues have been identified.”

The outlets which have temporarily closed are:

Adairs

Chirnside Café

Medical Centre

Mocha

Peter Jackson

Quality Pharmacy

Subaru Service Centre

and Target.

However, Ms Gardiner did not specify exactly why the works were needed in the first place.

“The temporary and precautionary measures form part of our responsible operational management practices for Pacific Werribee and will allow our expert consultants to assist with implementing a solution that efficiently remediates the potentially affected locations,” Ma Gardiner said.

“While we are not expecting these temporary measures to create a material impact to the operation of the centre as a whole, they will also involve the need to undertake precautionary works in Target resulting in its temporary closure.”

“While it is still too early to confirm how long Target will need to remain closed, we will be sure to keep our community informed as these works progress.

“We take the wellbeing of our entire community very seriously, and proactive safety management practices are a top priority.”
