Uniting Vic.Tas is appealing for donations as part of its Spread the Warmth this Winter appeal.
Uniting Wyndham housing co-ordinator Deborah Gorsuch said the appeal would support the thousands of homeless and struggling people who contact its emergency relief services seeking food, financial assistance and support, every year.
“Many people in our community are really struggling, but if you’re living on the streets or don’t know where your next meal is coming from, you’re constantly in survival mode,” Ms Gorsuch said.
A statement from Uniting Vic.Tas said that a $29 donation could help buy a new blanket to provide to someone experiencing homelessness. A $100 donation would purchase pyjamas for a family of four.
Uniting Wyndham is also urgently appealing for donations of new items including kitchen cutlery, plates and cups; pillows, doonas and doona covers; single sheet sets and other size sets; blankets; towels, face washers; shampoo; conditioner; and deodorant and other personal care items.
The organisation is also seeking two new volunteer drivers for its emergency relief service, to collect food donations from around the community.
Donations to the appeal can be made at Uniting Wyndham, 19 Duncans Road, Werribee or online at unitingvictas.org.au/spread-the-warmth-this-winter
