Capturing local nature

The Werribee River Association has invited community members to submit images to its inaugural photo competition.

The Nature in Wyndham Photo Competition aims to showcase the local environment.

Anyone who lives, works or studies within the Wyndham municipality can enter the competition, with entrants able to submit up to five photos per category.

The prize categories include: best photo of a waterway in Wyndham, best photo of native fauna and/or flora in Wyndham; and best image of people finding sanctuary in nature or practising good social distancing in Wyndham.

All photos must have been taken during the pandemic, and must comply with current COVID-19 regulations.

Five prizes of $200 each will be awarded.

Competition organiser Lisa Field said that during the pandemic, residents have been asked to stay home but have also been able to get some form of daily exercise.

“There certainly seems to be more people out and about in the local parks and on our local trails,” she said.

“The Werribee River Association is encouraging people to continue to enjoy what is available locally, and also by enjoying these natural spaces, we hope to see people value and protect them.”

Entries to the competition will close on October 1. Email photos to comps@werribeeriver.org.au and include your full name, address and phone number.
