A Wyndham family received a lovely surprise when two cousins were born on the day at Werribee Mercy Hospital last month.
Werribee wife-and-husband Suzanne and Mitchell Meehan welcomed their son Elijah into the world at 3.58am on May 31.
Around 12 hours later, at 4.40pm, Mitchell’s brother Ryan Meehan and sister-in-law Emma Meehan welcomed their son Lenny.
Ryan and Emma may be familiar faces to many residents – Ryan is the owner and director of coaching at Meehan Tennis Academy, which is based in Tarneit, and Emma is a local primary school teacher.
Mitchell and Ryan are the sons of Peter and Amanda Meehan, who run Anglers Anchorage in Werribee South.
Peter and Amanda have four sons in total, and three other grandchildren.
Peter said that he and his wife were overjoyed when their two new grandsons were born on the one day, which he described as “a double-whammy”.
He said the family had not been expecting Lenny and Elijah to be born within 24 hours of each other.
“One boy was overdue by two days and the other one was around a week-and-a-half early,” Peter said.
Suzanne said that Elijah and Lenny being born on the same day was “unexpected but very exciting”.
Suzanne said that she and Emma had started talking about the possibility of sharing, or co-ordinating, birthday parties for their sons in the future.
She was also full of praise for the medical team at Werribee Mercy Hospital.
“They were lovely from the beginning – we were very kindly treated by all staff,” Suzanne said.
