A water play adventure playground will be built at a new park which has been approved for Mambourin.
Frasers Property Australia – which is developing the Mambourin estate near the Regional Rail Link and Greens Road, between Werribee and Wyndham Vale – unveiled plans for the new district park last week.
The $3.5 million district park will be built as part of a bigger wetlands open space area, which will cost $10 million in total.
The park’s construction is estimated to be completed late this year, to coincide with when the first of Mambourin’s 3500 residents move into their new houses.
The park, designed by Tract, will include two six-metre tall play towers, a rebound and climbing wall, a water play area, flying foxes, spiral slides and an adventure maze.
An area for skating, rollerblading and scootering, along with a full-size multi-use court for basketball and netball, will also be built.
Other facilities are set to include a sheltered barbecue and picnic area, restrooms and grassed open spaces.
The park will connect to hiking and bike trails.
Frasers Property Australia’s Victorian residential general manager, Sarah Bloom, said it was expected the park would attract families from the wider community, not just Mambourin.
“We can’t wait to see this park to come to life, it’s going to be unlike anything people have seen before in the area,” she said.
“The You Yangs form a stunning natural backdrop to Mambourin and this park has been designed to make the most of it with optimum viewing spots, such as a birds’ nest lookout for kids in one of the play towers.”
Tract principal landscape architect Ryan Davis said feedback about what the new residents wanted from the park helped to inform its design.
“A real highlight for families will be the different uses for the park and the number of activities they can enjoy together,” he said.
“The park has been designed for all ages and abilities and also includes fitness stations throughout the wetlands area and flexible space for unprogrammed use, so a trip to the park from school or the town centre should be something to excite the whole family.”
