Wyndham residents now have the second-highest number of active coronavirus diagnoses out of the state’s municipalities.
Figures released by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) today revealed that Wyndham residents have recorded 46 Covid-19 cases (compared to 41 yesterday) – including 14 active cases (compared to 11 yesterday).
Active cases are defined as someone who has tested positive, is currently in isolation and being monitored by the DHHS and who has not yet recovered.
The municipality of Brimbank, which includes Sunshine, St Albans and Deer Park, has 18 active cases of the virus diagnosed in residents (and a total of 56 cases).
Brooklyn, the suburb where a cluster of 71 coronavirus cases have been linked to a meat processing plant, straddles the borders of the municipalities of Brimbank and Hobsons Bay.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Victoria stands 1467 – an increase of 13 since yesterday. Eight of these new cases have been linked to the Brooklyn meat processing plant.
To date, 18 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.
There are 158 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Victoria that may have been acquired through community transmission.
Currently eight people are in hospital, including six patients in intensive care. 1327 people have recovered.
