Point Cook’s Emma Daniaro is encouraging residents to tempt their tastebuds with local fare during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms Daniaro, who started Sweet’Ems Cakes & Catering eight years ago, said like others, her home-based business has been “massively impacted by Covid-19”.

“Ninety-five per cent of future bookings have been cancelled/postponed which, as a family business and our sole income, is scary,” she said.

“I am a pretty resilient person so have been quick to make changes to how we operate in regards to offering items that are relevant to the situation.

“My focus has gone back to the classics that we all love like slices, cookies, homestyle cakes etc – there is a comfort in these items that I think we all need now.”

Ms Daniaro said she enjoyed being creative and “feeding people and seeing them enjoy something that I have made”.

“I want to encourage people to keep buying local and supporting small business where you can,” she said.

“It is very important if you want to have these amazing services still operational when this crazy situation is all over to show your support.

“Buy a voucher to use down the track, get a little something delivered to a friend you aren’t able to see, shove a whole cupcake in your mouth tonight while watching your fave isolation series – it is so appreciated.”
