Actively connecting with community

WynActive has launched an initiative to help the wider community stay connected during the coronavirus lockdown.

The group’s recreation centres, AquaPulse and Eagle Stadium, closed to the public last month due to COVID-19 restrictions, but staff have contacting its 9200 members to chat on the phone to help reduce social isolation.

The calls take place between 9am and 5pm and have been described as having a “virtual cuppa”.

The initiative has been opened to all members of the Wyndham community – anyone who would like a call can register by emailing info@westernleisureservices.com.au.

WynActive has also launched two online daily exercise classes with its instructors via Facebook.

The 9am session is a live class and lasts 30 minutes, while the 2pm session is a pre-recorded class.

WynActive webcasts are scheduled to start on Wednesday, April 22.

Each webcast will be broadcast on all WynActive social media channels and on the WynActive website.

Western Leisure Service chief executive Alison Dixon said: “WynActive is an integral part of the Wyndham community. We want to support the broader community through these difficult times.

“The WynActive team have responded brilliantly to these unusual circumstances.

“A number of the stories I have heard really show that some people are doing it tough and are very grateful for the contact from the WynActive team.

“We are honoured that we can assist in a very small way and if we can help just one person then it has been worthwhile.”
