National pageant winner celebrates

Point Cook’s Sindu Varathan has been crowned winner of the Ms Australia International Pageant 2020.
The event’s national finals were held last month in Sydney.
The competition aims to recognise gifted women from across the continent, focusing on their talents, accomplishments, personalities and contributions to society.
Ms Varathan described her success in the pageant – the first one she has ever entered – as “a surreal moment and very special”.
In the lead-up to the pageant, Ms Varathan raised funds for Save the Children through a project called Spare the Change, which encourages people to donate their change for a day or week to the cause.
Ms Varathan said that she was excited that winning the pageant has given her the chance to continue advocating for Save the Children, across the next 12 months.
“My inspiration is driven by my passion to help create better lives for children in Australia and around the world,” she said.
“Education has been one of the key tools in my life that helped me navigate the ups and lows of life.
“I dream of a world where every child is given an opportunity for better education and a safe childhood.
“My dream inspires me to keep moving forward and my passion is the driving force behind it.”
