Tarneit’s Baden Powell College students learned about the dangers of under aged drinking as part of a travelling theatre program.
The Smashed Project, run by educational theatre company Gibber Australia, was performed for Year 8 and 9 students last month as part of the show’s national tour which aims to reduce alcohol-related harm in young people.
Gibber Australia chief executive Tim Watt said the interactive production was an effective way to engage teens on the risks of alcohol misuse by bringing the topic to life in a dynamic, credible way.
“The results are clear that students and the teaching staff are responding well to our fun, interactive yet educational style of the program,” Mr Watt said.
“Young people in this age group don’t respond well to being lectured and value having open and honest conversations about drinking and how this can impact their physical and mental wellbeing.”
The Smashed Project is on tour at Victorian secondary schools until December 20.
