Big guns fire for Keilor against Strathmore

Keilor went on a tear with the bat on day one of its clash with Strathmore in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division at Syd McGain Oval on Saturday.

The Blues unleashed their full arsenal of batting weapons to post a monstrous 8-352 in 80 overs.

Opener Nathan Beever and captain Kaushal Lokuarachchi posted centuries to have the Blues in a strong position at stumps.

Beever played a patient role with 128 off 243 balls to be the anchor of the innings, while Lokuarachchi had the scoreboard humming with 112 off 122.

The pair featured in a 169-run third wicket partnership.

Once Lokuarachchi was removed, Beever combined for a 130-run fourth wicket stand with Nasir Malik, who scored a quickfire 75 off 65.

Winless after four games, Keilor will be desperate to get a taste of that winning feeling on the second day.

It was tough going for St Albans on the first day of its battle with Doutta Stars at Kings Park.

The Saints were skittled for just 136.

The Stars went to stumps on 2-73 and well in control of the game.

In division 1 west, Deer Park mustered 212 against Tullarmarine at John McLeod Reserve.

Ricky Suvada was the high run scorer for the Parkers with 58.

While in the north group, PEGS is 1-6 in reply to West Coburg’s small score of 138.

In division 2, Sunshine has the upper hand against St Andrews Pascoe Vale, making a solid start of 0-17 in their chase for the 175 victory target.

Keilor Park struggled on day one against Newport-Digman, posting just 98 with the visitors 2-37 in reply.
