Millions of Mars Bars

A warehouse with enough space to store more than seven million Mars Bars will be built in Wyndham.

Mars Wrigley Australia, which manufactures Mars Bars, M&Ms, Snickers, Skittles and Extra, last week announced a seven-year partnership with Toll Group and Charter Hall to construct and manage a state-of-the-art warehouse in Truganina.

The warehouse is set to store all of Mars Wrigley’s products under one roof, and will have the capacity to house up to 49,000 pallets at any given time – which amounts to enough space to store 733,824,000 Mars Bars.

The temperature-controlled warehouse, which is expected to begin operating late next year, will be equipped with Automated Guide Vehicles to assist workers move pallets around.

Mars Wrigley Australia supply chain director Marius Vermeulen said: “It’s an exciting project for our business and one that’s been several years in the making”.

“We’re looking forward to realising the benefits this new facility will deliver to our customers, our business and consumers,” he said.

Charter Hall’s head of industrial development, Andrew Simons, said the company was “delighted to continue to build on our long-standing national relationship with Toll and welcome them to our Midwest Logistics Hub in Truganina”.

Mr Simons said the Mars Wrigley warehouse would measure 44,000 square metres in size.

Toll Group’s executive general manager retail, consumer and healthcare, Jason Bush, said: “We are proud of our long-term relationship with Mars, designing and building this new state-of-the-art facility”.
