Saddle up for holiday fun

It will be a photo finish for youngsters running their own Werribee Cup race as part of this week’s Saddle Up program.

Kids will catch a glimpse of a jockey’s life as part of the school holiday program which starts on Thursday (July 4) at Werribee Racecourse.

The full day program, for primary school-aged children, will be packed full of horse-related activities including learning how to ride horses from a leading jockey.

Nicole Coughlan, of Racing Victoria, said organisers were looking forward to offering youngsters something “a bit different”.

“This is a unique offering,” Ms Coughlan said. “It’s more than just a pony ride. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled day using such a wonderful facility like Werribee Racecourse.”
