Winning ways: 50 High Street, Werribee, 3030

This is the kind of place that has a totally relaxed vibe, starting from the large deck out front on which to pull up a pew, watch the world go by and catch the rays from the north-easterly aspect.

Inside, an all-over revamp has delivered a light-filled contemporary home. Emphasising the sense of space and harmony, warm-white wall paint and rich floorboards pair with streamlined window furnishings and downlights on high ceilings. It all sings with freshness and restraint.

Entry, via the aforementioned deck, is directly into the open-plan living domain, with the first encounter a nib wall ahead, behind which is a long timber desk. This is well placed, within sight of the kitchen and not impeding on lounge space.

The dining zone is a charming space, with a bank of windows that capture very pretty garden vistas. It also has a door to a covered alfresco area and garden.

Honey-toned timber is atop streamlined white cabinetry in the grey-tiled kitchen, which also has white splashback tiles and stainless-steel 900mm cooker and dishwasher.

The three bedrooms, two with built-in robes and each with floorboards, share a chic bathroom. This has soft-grey and white tiling, a contemporary black/white tub, matte-black tapware, walk-in shower and a raised basin on a timber-topped vanity.

The alfresco area links with a long strip of lawn that will make kids and pets very happy. Running to the back fence, the lawn is flanked on one side by trimmed shrubs, while underplanted rose bushes run along the side of the house.

Behind the freestanding garage – able to take four cars – there are a series of vegie boxes, and more lawn. The block is nearly 700 square metres.

Watton Street shops and eateries and the station are within five-minute car trips, while Wyndham Central College is 10 by foot.
