Athletes and officials at the Werribee Little Athletics Centre will be able to communicate more effectively thanks to a grant from Coles.
The centre has received $1100 from the Coles Little Athletics Community Fund, to buy equipment.
Money for the community fund was raised through the sale of chiller bags, designed by eight-year-old Lachie Macdonald from Victoria and 11-year-old Charlie De Bruyn from Western Australia, at Coles stores.
The Werribee Little Athletics Centre is one of more than 200 centres across the nation to receive a grant from the fund.
Coles state general manager Mark O’Connor said that the Werribee Little Athletics Centre applied for funding to buy a portable PA system and microphones.
Werribee Little Athletics’ president Rob de Wit said the equipment would make “a big difference” to the centre.
“The purchase of a portable speaker will make the running of our cross country season much easier,” he said.
