Victoria bowls up a storm for tenpin trophy at Point Cook

The 2015 National Youth Teams Challenge trophy for tenpin bowling stays in our backyard after Victoria took the competition by storm at the Wyncity Entertainment Centre in Point Cook last week.

The Big V’s male (599) and female (541) teams combined to topple 1140 pins and take out the overall competition from a Singapore invitational team (990) and Queensland (935).

Victoria (599) was crowned champions in the male section, with Queensland (470) coming second and Singapore and New South Wales (both 420) a dead-heat for third.

Singapore (570) triumphed in the female section over Victoria (541) and Queensland (465).

Local stars Sam Curry (Hoppers Crossing) and Lachlan Merchant (Point Cook) played at a consistently high level, topping the male singles scoring.

Curry combined with Elliott Batiste as the best male doubles pairing, while Rebekah Commane and Emily Rigney were the stand-out female doubles team.

Tenpin Bowling Australia praised Wyncity management for the smooth running of both the National Youth Teams Challenge and the National Youth Cup, won by Merchant, the previous week.
