Werribee’s gig guide is packed to the rafters with plenty on at the Wyndham Cultural Centre from next month.

Council’s arts, culture and heritage portfolio holder Tony Hooper said the next six months will promise a range of exciting performances of some of Australia’s greatest known stories.

“Council is delighted to welcome

The Sapphires and Possum Magic to the stage right here in Wyndham,” Cr Hooper said.

Possum Magic, taken from the classic Australian picture book, will capture the childlike wonder and imagination of the young and young at heart.

“One of Roald Dahl’s much-loved works

Revolting Rhymes and Dirty Beasts is sure to delight the young ones and bring a smile to parents’ faces.”

One of the highlights of the centre’s program is a perforance by Lamine Sonko and The African Intelligence on July 13, bringing funky jazz, afrobeat, reggae and salsa beats.

“Many will be familiar with Lamine Sonko’s fusion of contemporary and traditional African rhythms from Werribee Open Range Zoo’s Rhythm of Africa series and this is a very special opportunity to enjoy the full 10-piece ensemble,” Cr Hooper said.

Tickets for performances are on sale. A new concession ticket price for under 30s has been added.
