Point Cook Wildlife Care has condemned the shooting of three birds with an air rifle.
The wildlife group last week posted on its Facebook page, that it has taken in two magpies and a raven in the past six months, all with air rifle injuries.
The group said it has reported the matter to police and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).
According to the post, the raven was found in the vicinity of Tom Roberts Boulevard, while the magpies were both found in the Point Cook Town Centre, around Neptune Drive and Central Park Avenue.
The post said that all three of the birds had to be euthanised because of their injuries.
“To the absolute idiot who is shooting our local wildlife please note you are in breach of the Wildlife Act which carries severe penalties – possibly both fines and imprisonment,” the Facebook post stated.
“We’re calling on the community to be aware and if you hear or see anything call 000.
“Harming wildlife is a criminal offence under the Wildlife Act.”
