Expert horticulturalist Craig Castree will be at Werribee Park heritage orchard at K Road, Werribee South, from 9.45am every Friday until March 27 to give you hints on grafting, pruning and fungal control. Bring a hat, sunscreen and secateurs. Enter via gate 2 and follow the signs.

Midsumma lounge

Kelly Park will be transformed into a magical outdoor lounge on Saturday as part of the Midsumma Festival. There will be live music from 4pm, featuring Monique Brumby and her band alongside local talent and children’s art activities.

Rhythm of Africa

Bringing together a magic mix of warm summer nights, African beats and picnics on the grass, the summer concert series runs every Saturday until February 28 at Werribee Open Range Zoo from 4.30-8.30pm. Admission is $30.80 for adults. Under-16s are free, including zoo entry. K Road, Werribee South.

Pick up tips on keeping backyard chooks at a workshop at Eco Living Centre, 28 Ridge Drive, Wyndham Vale, 10am-noon, March 14. The workshop covers council regulations, benefits of keeping chickens, food and diet, and tips on reducing odours.

Country music

Come along and join the king and queen of country music, Lee Kernaghan and Kasey Chambers, at Werribee Park on Sunday, February 22, for Live on the Lawn. The best of Australia’s country music scene will be there including Adam Brand, Morgan Evans and Melbourne’s own Deep Creek Road. Tickets from Ticketmaster are $84.50. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Wyndham sings

Join the Tides of Welcome Choir for a weekend of singing workshops with renowned choir director Jonathan Welch at Wyndham Cultural Centre from February 28-March 1. The workshops
run from 10am on both days and there will be a community concert from 3-4.15pm on March 1. Tickets to the workshop cost $40 and concert tickets are $10.
