December 6, 1978

Werribee residents this week welcomed the Shire council’s move to investigate the proposal to use the old Wandene Hospital for municipal purposes, as magnificent. Situated in Synnot Street on an acre or so of land, the building is an old homestead built by an early settler to the district, Francis Beamish.

November 30, 1988

Services for 41 intellectually disabled people at the Wyndham Centre in Werribee were shut down after teaching staff went on an indefinite strike on Monday. The centre was one of 77 adult units in Victoria to close its door at 3.20pm because of a dispute over poor wage levels.

December 2, 1998

Wyndham council wants VicRoads to build a 23-kilmotre super highway from Werribee to the Western Ring Road, to ease peak-hour traffic on the Princes Highway. The council plan is for the new road to leave the Princes Highway about half-way between the Western interchange and Little River Road and take a northerly route to Ballan Road near Hobbs Road.
