The Spring Racing Carnival may have wound up, but now it’s time for the Werribee Racing Club to shine with season opener, the Werribee Cup, on track to be the best yet.

More than 4000 people are expected to frock up and attend this year’s cup on December 9 to enjoy a day of country racing, fashions on the field and childrens activities.

For the adults there are mini marquees and a Birdcage cocktail bar.

For those looking to spend a day out with the family, entry for kids 17 and under is free and there will be lots of kids’ activities, including jumping castles, face-painting and live music.

Werribee Racing Club general manager Ashley Baker said he was looking forward to hosting his first Werribee Cup since taking the top job at the beginning of this year.

“It’s going to be a relaxed, family-friendly afternoon of racing,” he said.

Meanwhile, Star Weekly is calling on racegoers to share photos of their Werribee Cup celebrations with a chance to win some great prizes, including a Fossil Watch courtesy of Duffs Jewellers, a $200 Shadowfax Wines dining voucher and two Village Cinema Gold Class tickets.
