Work is streets ahead

Work on three major road upgrade projects in Wyndham is now underway.

The Minister for Roads Luke Donnellan and Tarneit MP Telmo Languiller visited Leakes Road in Truganina to mark the start of the works at the site, on Friday.

The works are part of the $1.8 billion Western Roads Upgrade.

Eight kilometres of new lanes are being added in each direction on Leakes Road, between Derrimut and Fitzgerald roads, along with 18 intersection upgrades.

On Derrimut Road, an extra lane is being installed in each direction between Sayers Road and Dohertys Road, plus nine intersection upgrades.

On Dunnings Road and Palmers Road, an extra lane will be added in each direction between Princes Freeway and Point Cook Road. There will also be 10 intersection upgrades and a bus lane in each direction from Wallace Avenue to Dunnings Road.

Work on the Dohertys Road upgrade started in June while Duncans Road began last month.

The Western Roads Upgrade is expected to be completed by 2021.
