It is always a happy day when children and families from the Hey Dee Ho playgroup embark on their monthly visit to a Werribee aged-care home. Youngsters from the playgroup, including Zack, 3, visit Mercy Place Wyndham once every four weeks as part of an intergenerational program. The preschool students, who are aged between three and four years, play music and sing songs for residents in the Mercy Place’s Memory Support Unit. In addition to bringing smiles and laughter to the Mercy Place residents, the program gives pupils a chance to hear the life stories of the senior citizens, who in turn enjoy meeting children who are a similar age to many of their own grandchildren.
A joy for children and seniors
